How to choose a go-kart in Monaghan

A BERG pedal go-kart is bought by frame size. Get the frame right for the rider and the rest is colour and budget. BERG publishes an age guide for each frame, and the five karts in our Monaghan stock cover three frames, with prices from €299.

Step one: find the age band

    Step two: settle the overlap

The bands above are BERG's, and they run into each other. At five, a child falls inside all three. When that happens, two things decide it: how tall the child is, and whether anyone else will ride. A slight five-year-old suits the Buddy. One of ordinary height suits the Rally. And if a big brother, a big sister or a parent will be borrowing it, only the XL is rated for an adult.

Stuck between two? Ring us with the age and height and we will pick the frame with you.

Step three: think about where it will be ridden

A pedal kart is for private ground: a yard, a garden, a private lane. It is not for public roads. Firm ground is easier to pedal on than soft, wet grass, so a small child on a lawn will find it harder work than the same child on a hard yard.

    What BFR stands for

BFR is the name of BERG's hub. You pedal forwards to move, pedal backwards to brake, and the kart can reverse. In our stock the XL B.Pure Blue BFR has it in the name. For the others, the kart's page on the shop says what it has, or you can ask us.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How young can a child be for a pedal go-kart?+

Three, for the karts we keep. The Buddy is the youngest frame in our stock and BERG's age guide for it runs from 3 to 8 years.

Is it wise to buy a size up?+

Only when the child can already reach the pedals and turn the wheel without stretching. BERG's age bands overlap, so there is often a real choice between two frames. Give us the age and height and we will tell you which one fits today.

Which of your karts has BFR?+

The XL B.Pure Blue BFR has it in its name. BFR is BERG's hub: forwards to go, pedal back to brake, and reverse. For the other four karts, look at the product page on the shop or ask us.

Where can children use a go-kart around the house?+

On private ground such as a yard, a garden or a private lane. Pedal karts are not for public roads, and firm ground is easier going than a soft lawn.

Does it cost anything to have a kart delivered in Monaghan?+

No. Go-karts ship free, including the Buddy B.Orange at €299. Clontibret Transport delivers in Monaghan and Cavan, within 48 hours for the karts we hold in stock.

    Still between two frames?

Ring us with the rider's age and height and we will tell you which kart fits. It takes a couple of minutes.
