How to choose a trampoline in Monaghan
Most buying guides start with size. In County Monaghan it pays to start with the ground, because a drumlin garden is seldom flat and the clay beneath it is slow to drain. Once you know what your site allows, four choices are left: type, shape, size and range. Prices shown are taken from the shop's current price list.
Before you choose: look at the ground
- Slope. BERG's manual requires level ground. On a sloping site, measure only the part that is level, or that you are prepared to have levelled before the trampoline goes down.
- Space. BERG asks for at least 2 metres clear at the sides and 7 metres clear overhead. Count trees, walls, fences, sheds and wires.
- Water. Monaghan County Council's Landscape Character Assessment says of the county's glacial till that it "is very dense and water cannot percolate through very easily". If water lies on your lawn after rain, that matters most for a trampoline set into the ground.
- Wind. A garden on the side or top of a hill is open to it. That bears on the type you choose and on anchoring.
Our guide to slopes, wind and wet ground goes into each of these.
1. Type: on the lawn or in it
This choice comes first because two of the three types involve digging. We sell and deliver all three and install none of them. Who installs a trampoline in Monaghan explains who does.
Above ground
€449 to €4,999
On legs, on top of the lawn, and always supplied with a safety net. Nobody has to dig. You put it together from BERG's manual, on ground that is level.
Browse Above ground trampolinesInGround
€339 to €1,949
Sunk into the lawn so that only a low edge stands proud. You can have it with a safety net or without. An installer, landscaper or builder does the groundwork.
Browse InGround trampolinesFlatGround
€699 to €4,999
Flush with the grass. Nothing to climb onto, no ladder, and the garden behind it stays in view. Like the InGround, it depends on groundwork done by someone else.
Browse FlatGround trampolinesWind: a FlatGround lies at lawn level, so it presents far less to the wind than a trampoline standing on legs. A safety net catches wind on any type. If you choose above ground, anchor it, and follow BERG's advice to take the net down ahead of a forecast storm.
Wet ground: for InGround and FlatGround models, BERG's manual tells the installer to check the ground-water level and to provide "adequate drainage". Whether your ground can take one is the installer's call, made on site. If the answer is no, above ground is the type that asks least of the soil.
2. Shape: follow the level ground
Let the shape of your level area decide. Here is what BERG builds in each shape, with the sizes on our list.
| Shape | Lengths (cm) | Smallest to largest | Types | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RoundPlain name, no extra word | 200, 270, 330, 380, 430 | 6.5ft to 14ft | Above ground, InGround, FlatGround | €339 |
| OvalLook for "Grand" | 350, 470, 520 | 11 x 8ft to 17 x 11.5ft | Above ground, InGround | €929 |
| RectangularLook for "Ultim" | 280, 330, 410, 500 | 9ft to 16 x 10ft | Above ground, InGround, FlatGround | €549 |
| SquareAlso "Ultim" | 200, 500 | 6 x 6ft to 16 x 16ft | Above ground, FlatGround | €699 |
- Round: More sizes than any other shape, and the shape where BERG's prices start.
- Oval: A long shape for a long plot. BERG builds it above ground or InGround. You will not find an oval FlatGround.
- Rectangular: Made in all three types and all four ranges. The AeroWall, BERG's stunt wall, is made for Ultim FlatGround models only.
- Square: Found at the two ends of the scale: the small Champion FlatGround and the big Pro Bouncer.
3. Size: the trampoline plus the space around it
BERG puts the size in the name, in centimetres. A 330 is 330cm across, which is 11ft. Ranges and types do not all come in the same sizes, so go by the product cards: they show only models that exist.
Then add the clear space. With 2 metres wanted on each side, the level area you need is a good deal bigger than the trampoline itself. Take your tape to the level ground, note any obstacles, photograph it and send the lot through the free garden consultation. We check it against BERG's manual for the model in question and tell you what fits.
4. Range: Favorit, Champion, Elite or Pro Bouncer
The four BERG ranges are told apart by their springs, mat, protective edge and warranty. The figures below are BERG's. For the first three side by side, see Favorit, Champion and Elite compared.
| Range | Springs | Mat | Protective edge | Frame warranty | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Favorit | SoloSpring | AirFlow | 20mm thick, 38cm wide | 5 years, 8 when registered | €339 to €1,139 |
| Champion | TwinSpring | AirFlow Pro | 30mm thick, 38cm wide | 10 years, 13 when registered | €699 to €3,139 |
| Elite | TwinSpring | AirFlow Pro | 30mm thick, 38cm wide | 10 years, 13 when registered | €1,109 to €3,549 |
| Pro Bouncer | TwinSpring Pro | AirFlow Pro | 60mm thick, 49cm wide | 10 years, 13 when registered | €2,829 to €4,999 |
- Favorit: BERG's entry range. Available InGround and above ground; not made as a FlatGround.
- Champion: The middle range. Round, oval or rectangular.
- Elite: Champion's springs and mat with heavier frame tubing and a 5 year padding warranty.
- Pro Bouncer: BERG's top range. 16ft rectangular or square, FlatGround or above ground, rated for users up to 120kg.
- The CE mark and the GS mark (TÜV) are carried by Favorit, Champion and Elite.
- The padding is covered for 2 years on Champion and for 5 on Elite.
Safety nets and colours
- Above ground: a safety net comes with every model.
- InGround: your choice, net or no net.
- FlatGround: the round models have no net. The larger rectangular ones can be ordered with one.
- A name beginning "BERG SPORTS" is a trampoline supplied without a net.
- Colours are grey, green and black. Our listings are nearly all grey. Ask if you want one of the others.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know what size will fit my garden?+
Measure the part of the garden that is level, not the whole lawn. BERG's manual asks for level ground, at least 2 metres clear of trees, fences and other obstacles, and 7 metres clear overhead. Send us the measurements and a few photos and we will tell you which sizes fit.
Can an in-ground trampoline go into wet Monaghan clay?+
That is for an installer to decide after seeing the ground. BERG's manual says to check the ground-water level and to make sure there is adequate drainage for rain water. We supply the trampoline and can pass on the details of an independent installer.
Does a trampoline on legs need to be anchored?+
BERG's manual warns that strong winds and gusts can displace a trampoline and recommends anchoring it. BERG also suggests taking the safety net and padding off before a heavy storm. We sell two anchor kits at €55 each: four corkscrew anchors with adjustable straps, or eight ground stakes. See them on the above-ground trampolines page.
Favorit, Champion or Elite: what changes as the price goes up?+
Favorit has SoloSpring springs, the AirFlow mat and a 20mm protective edge. Champion moves to TwinSpring springs, the AirFlow Pro mat and a 30mm edge. Elite keeps Champion's springs and mat and adds heavier frame tubing and a 5 year padding warranty in place of 2 years.
How do I read a BERG product name?+
The number is the size in centimetres. Grand tells you it is oval and Ultim that it is rectangular. SPORTS means it comes without a safety net. Regular is BERG's word for above ground.
